Us by the river

Lili Ahlam

The streets are bare without you

They have no meaning without you

Just like me without you

Just like life without you

Life, the streets, they all call you

Do you hear?

Do you know?

What is love for you?

If not the memory of us by the river

If not Leonard singing his tunes

To us hoping, imagining, wanting.

Wanting everything because we felt everything. We felt each other.

I thought we did.

May that thought come back to reality.

The repetition of "without you" creates a beautifully dreamy, simple, and folky vibe. Do you refer to Leonard Cohen?

    • Lili Ahlam

Yes the one and only Leonard Cohen! Thank you for your comments, Nicholas, really appreciated.
