Tune: Wiltshire
('Through all the changing scenes of life')
Based partly on a Collect [Formal Prayer]
************
Endeavour to keep unity
Of the Spirit, so be
In the bond of peace, family
Of God His people be
In sharing love practically
In deed and word freely
So witness to the world we may
Of Christ's salvation day
With all lowliness, gentleness
And meekness, Christ profess
With longsuffering, forbearing
Each other in each thing
Not pride or selfishness, what I
Want, but to self deny
To know Christ's way, so true life gain
E'en times of suffering, pain
Yet we shall in His image grow
And more Christ's likeness show
Help us way of your Spirit go
Follow, where wind does blow
If earth-bound, give grace to release
What we hold to, so cease
Shall things of me, not what I will
But your good will fulfil

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. metre. We may FEEL good, OK, cosy, when we get want WE want. Often it's - do we NEED it or WANT it? People can seem OK if they selfishly have all they want, as in 'It's all right for you; you've had a cosy life!' 'So cease shall things of me'. Not that we have to be ascetics or masochistic though.

The original hymn was written by a former Poet Laureate.
Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold.
I'm gonna give you top marks for your title alone ...
Thanks Neville. I couldn't say the title after a couple of whiskies... Another 'E' to go with Endeavouring. Ya cant beat a bit of Elucidation, can ya? Or El-loosh-e-dayshuns. Hic! Said it.
