Tune: St Anne
('O God, our help in ages past')
1 Peter 1 v.3-9 part
For All Souls Day - Nov. 2nd
************
The God and Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ, true His word
Blessed He be, who according to
His great mercy in view
Has begotten us again to
A living hope anew
By resurrection of His Son
Jesus Christ He has won
Victory over death, risen
Inheritance for men (mankind)
He gives, it incorruptible
Undefiled, is pure all
And it fades not away, it be
Reserved in heaven, see
For you, and for souls gone before
To the eternal shore
Trying, testing of faith, there times
Occurring through life's rhymes
There be, though more precious than gold
Is enduring faith bold
We through faith kept by God's power
Until the final hour
When our salvation full reveled
His creation all healed
Christ we not yet see, but rejoice
And praise Him with one voice
Receiving end of our faith, it
Be our souls saved each whit

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. metre. A Remembrance season hymn, though suitable for today also. 'Soul' can mean 'the whole person'. Yet if speaking of 'body, soul, and spirit', the soul is things such as our mind, emotions, will, etc.

Sorry Orchi but I completely disagree with these words, he wasn't there for Joyce or myself.

I can understand Gold. What would I believe, or think, if in your position, if it does not cancel out what is in the poem?
