Winter in Time

Tayama

As the leaves fall all around me here...

The new cold reminds me of this time slowly coming to end...then...

I relive that cold, dark night in the city when you dampened my shirt as you cried into me...

Making me see that at that moment, between your breaths of sorrow...

That I could only love you forever, no matter where you and I might be taken to be...

As we both knew, there would be no tomorrow...

How your chestnut hair framed your face, and the brown of your eyes burned me with desire...

With the concrete of that now gone meeting place, holding us as we thought we'd fall into our season as one...

I knew I could never love you more, and never love you again as I did when you asked, can it be like this forever?

For I forever love you as a broken man, made whole for an endless winter when you showed me, that time in love, is senseless...for it stood frozen every time I breathed you in and my lips touched yours...

I've past that spot countless times since, and often lean back to feel the hardness against my skin, as I remember the softness of you in my coat, that smelled of perfume, that was you...

Remember when the snow fell as we ran across Times Square with the sun starting to show?

I've never crossed it again, yet when the first snow falls, I see your lashes white, wear the shirt with the tears you shed, and know that for me, our winter has begun again...

I miss you so much, that it often halters my breath, where the pain of loving one so much, opens the spaces in your heart...

You pray will never close, as to hope, can we once again start?
