things to come

dusk arising

Unchallenged by a complacency
advancing became accellorated.
Slowly the natural inhabitants
were overcome and choked
to a silent withering of demise.
In the wilderness of near nothing
an occasional voice rang truth
to unlistening ears locked away
behind doors fastened against fear
of unknown which crept the streets.
Otherworldly silence commands
barren centres of once bustling
now weedy overgrown plazas.
Wildlife sought new pastures
and found welcome in emptyness
though ready meals prove scant
and chill of winter beckons famine.
Neath the shroud of outward despair
a cunning has awaited it's moment.
New order builds in dark places.

Sounds like Earth In it’s last frontier with mere humankind! Perhaps the desolation of the inner soul,

    Interesting write dear One!

I just hope you aint the prophet I increasingly believe that you might just be ...

  • Fay Slimm.

A scare of a read dear friend -- and so aptly formed with sombre wording to create a write so worthy of viewing again .......... into my faves with this called "things to come"

Thanks DA. Beyond the great structure as a piece of poetry and the 'good write' award which must come your way, of all the dystopian accounts and images around, this one feels right up there and well may be closest to the mark.
In the event, stay safe and take very good care of yourself
