please, so much

dusk arising

He was everywhere back then
the man I had wanted to be
and
they had him.
Taking him with them always
....I was full of envy.
They were slender and leggy
with giggles, soft curly hair
and that look they could give you
could make me want to.....
I was fourteen and envious.
I wanted to be that man.
The one they took sneakily
behind the bike sheds,
and into the woods or
smuggled into a bedroom.
Craftily fingered in a
'ladies' cubicle
Or joyously handled on the
upstairs back-seat of a
double decker bus.
But always discreetly kept
for purposes of pleasure and
often shared out among the girlies.
There he was, that man i wanted to be.
Taken to all those places
that man on every pack of
John Players Cigarettes.
Me, Hero, sailor of the seas.
In among those eager seekers
of a crafty drag you'd find me
'neath a haze of pubescent exhalation.

Ha - - yes you were right on with your assessment D.A. and I remember giggling when one of my girlie-pals got him out in the woods and covertly kissed that familiar image before lighting up with a smile - -- - - such a time your words take us back to my friend...............

Yes, you were there in among them curly girly...... like i just mentioned to Neville, I dont know what the attraction to smoking was really, other than wanting to show we were older than our years.

Were you one of those sneaking a packet of cigarettes into secret places too?

              • Doggerel Dave

Never mind it may be you or maybe not, d.a., the memories stretched for the length of your work and took me to some half remembered places.
(I confess I did smoke those coffin nails for a while before I moved on and then ultimately gave up - still here)
                Thanks for that one.
                Dave

Well that takes me back a very long time d a. My mother used to smoke 'Players' . I can still remember Mum asking me to pop down the shops to get her Twenty Players, back in that time there was no restriction on age buying 'fags'. I used to got down to the shops on my scooter. Fond memories.

Players must have had thousands off me during my smoking years.

a great read, is there such a thing as tasteful eroticism or did you just create a new genre all by yourself

                    • dusk arising

Oh the kisses they would give away for a cigarette way back then. What exciting times they were for us all in out early teenage journey.
