Tune: Ewing
('Jerusalem the golden')
Isaiah 65 v.17-25 parts
**********
The LORD says, I do create
New heavens, new earth, state
Of perfection it shall be
And endure endlessly
Be glad, rejoice for ever
In what I create, ne'er
Shall it be corrupt, defiled
But filled with mercy mild
In city I shall rejoice
And my people with voice
Of joy shall all celebrate
Their happiness be great
No more the voice of weeping
But voice of those who sing
No more the voice of crying
Comfort, solace I bring
And they shall houses there build
Plant vineyards, fruitful field
It shall be their possession
Jerusalem their own
They the people of the blessed
Of the LORD, now at rest
I will answer ere* they call
Will hear ere* they speak all
Wolf and lamb feed together
Free, not tied to tether
Lion eat straw like oxen
Shall be harmony then
Dust shall be the serpent's food
Evil no more intrude
They shall not hurt, destroy not
My holy mount their lot
------
* ere = before.

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 7.6.7.6. 7.6.7.6. metre. Will this series 'endure endlessly'? (verse 1). Nope, but after reaching the end (chapter 66) I went back to a couple of earlier Chapters that I felt I could make poems out of. They are to follow. It's not always possible - some prophets have more judgement-type Chapters than others.

Intentional use of 'ere' in verse 3 - not typos! Maybe symbolic (verse 4) lion, wolf, etc. It is an 'idyll' but could also be literal, with complete harmony in nature and creatures in creation.
