Why are people so stupid?
They are told the virus has changed,
This new variant spreads faster.
So by midnight, travel from the area
Will not be allowed!
So what do many do,
They flee!
Flee the areas where the virus is
Get onto trains and go to other parts,
Other parts of the country.
So many on the trains
Spreading the virus among themselves,
When they leave the trains
They spread the virus further,
Further into to country.
So many more will get the virus
All because of the stupidity,
Stupidity of those who do not care,
Do not care that they are spreading,
Spreading this disease
That is killing so many people!
Why are people so stupid?
Or do they just not care,
And need to kill people!

- Comment from author about the poem: When higher tiers came into force in London people were told it would come into force at midnight and they could not go to other areas of the country. Many people got onto trains to leave the capital before midnight, the trains were overcrowded so anyone with the virus would spread it in the train and when they left the train it would be spread further into the country. Do some people just not care!

Good write Gold.
In my 'rant' recently, I covered another aspect - asking for huge money appeals, especially at this time. And for what? A few bricks? How does that help people here and now?!
I could have made a money pledge last time (a million appeal, of course). Oh no, not short term. For 3 or 5 years! But I was later redundant. I would have been in a big fix.
I don't condemn charities, etc for asking though.
Thanks Orchi.
As I have said before christainity's god is supposed to give all to its followers so where is that provision to that church!

just mind bogglingly surreal, how much capitalism's self-entitlement ideal's has warped our mindset's,
''as long as I get mine's'' is 'the' mentality that modern society 'worships' ...
but let's take a second, whose corruptive influence can negate our innate tendencies for empathy, to the extent we neglect to prioritise 'the greater good' at a time of palpable chaos?
let's not forget all those who profit from our 'heard mentality's', as they sit back and count their windfalls, while planning out their next avenue for panic-forged profiteering...
I'm with you Andy, but the issue is so monumental to grasp at this point - with all its intricately woven complexities (deliberately), I doubt anyone can pinpoint where to even begin searching for a solution, sad times: truly
Your words are meaningful Mek and I agree. Life in this particular is so complicated and surreal that many people try and escape back into the norm, even me to some extent, but I try and do it with care for others.
That solution seems to be getting further and further away, the only solution imho is that we should have locked down right at the beginning and not allowed anybody into the country without total isolation before they set foot here.

Andy, there are smart people and there are stupid people. There are good people and there are bad people. Unfortunately, the stupid ones seem to get all the attention. I do believe that the silent majority is still the smart ones.
I agree Fred, I have a belief that 99% of the people in the world are good but we only ever hear about the 1% who are bad.

Good write Gold. Have a happy Holiday and stay safe.
It has been said, "You can't fix stupid." We can't even get them to wear a mask.
Thank you Jerry and very true.
I hope that you have a Happy and safe Holiday as well.

This is good expression. My mind boggles too. It's terribly frightening... I live in England too and seeing the footage on the news of the mass exidus... They are simply bringing the new variant further North! Anxiety is at an all time high! I can feel your frustration through your words. Good poem showing realities very clearly.
Thank you Clara, many people just do not care.
Andy
I can only imagine it to be tangible hysteria.
Quite likely d a.
