Tune: Branle De L'officiel
('Ding, dong! Merrily on high')
**********
Ding, dong! Here a Saviour born
Upon the first Christmas morn
Bing, bong! Bells small and great sound
Spread the good news all around
Chorus
A-ll-ll-e-lu-ia! Glory to god, peace on earth
A-ll-ll-e-lu-ia! Good news of a Saviour's birth
Sing, song! High your joyful praise
Your worthy songs now upraise
Ling[ual], long! Tell it day, night long
Witness with the happy throng - Chorus
Jesus, born in manger bare
The stabled animals there
Viewed the babe, the Prince of Peace
Whose reign it never shall cease - Chorus
Bethlehem, you little town
Now of an endless renown
Light of the world born in you
Revealed, and all may Him view - Chorus
Come, our darkness now dispel
Bells ring out o'er hill and dell
Ever praise the Christ-child dear
In flesh to man He appears - Chorus

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem. Verses: 7.7.7.7. Chorus: 6.7.6.7. Ling long?! Related to 'lingual' - speaking, etc. I couldn't extend the 'ding, dong' part through the whole song, e.g. Ting, tong have any meaning?

'The bells, the bells'! No, not Quasimodo's bells!
Good fun write Orchi.
Andy
Thanks Gold.
Nice song Orchi. Have a happy Holiday and stay safe
Thanks Jerry.
I don't know this Christmas tune, BRANLE L'OFFICIEL, but here it is, played on the organ. I can sing the original English words (also on the Hymnary web site), but I can't sing yours easily, and the chorus defeats me. Perhaps someone with more musical skill than mine will have better luck.

I sing in three choirs and I can easily fit Orchi's words to the song he has given us.
Thanks Robert. I only found out the tune name on Hymnary site.
The verses seem quite easy - every line is 7 syllables. I've put 'Alleluia' (the 6 syllable lines in the Chorus) in place of the long 'Gloria'.
Thanks Gold. Carry on singing!
