Hello Again

"Carter Wills"

It seems so hard sometimes,

just to even talk to you.

For the memories I still hold of us

always seem to come back through.

I cannot forgot what we were to one another,

try as hard as I often might.

But still yet for all my attempts

the memories come back each and every night.

I told you that I loved you.

Once, twice, a million times and more.

But in the end I made mistakes,

and all that's left is the memories of before.

I wish I could tell you that I miss you,

but all that would do is ruin what we have now.

But I still do sorely love you,

and just wish I could have you back that way, somehow.

So here instead I'll just stay.

And my feelings, I'll just feign

that they're not there, and try not to show my true colors

each time I say, "Hello," again.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Hello again, any and all who might follow me, and hello for the first time to any who are new and seeing this. I’m been quite inactive as of late. Even though I did promise I would try to be more active. Life has been something quite interesting, this year. Spending most of said year cooped up inside my home has put quite a lot of things in reflection - and inspired a lot of new ideas. This very poem here being one of them. So while I cannot guarantee any sort of consistency in producing more poems and such here, I will most certainly try. I’ll try to get a poem out for New Year’s too. I wish you all the best!

Maybe those true colours are what that person is waiting to see.
