Goodbye 2020

AnneJay

GOODBYE 2020

It's New Year's eve, but empty streets,
Who would believe no meets and greets,
No bright lit pubs or singing cheer
To welcome in the brand new year.
It's been a year of separation,
Distancing and isolation,
Sanatized, wearing of masks,
Queues and limits and strange new tasks.
No touch of hand and no embrace,
Don't touch your mask or touch your face,
The Sun still beat with fiery glow,
But all is closed, nowhere to go.
The weary worn have had enough,
With feelings torn the times are tough,
But forward glance across the night,
Another chance for things to right.
With hand signal the New Year beckons,
Coaxing us with all it's seconds,
Ten, nine, eight, seven
Can twenty twenty be forgiven.
Six, five, four, three,
A few more then we will be free,
Two, one, the clock strikes and it has begun.
New beginnings full of hope,
Last year taught us how to cope.
Scream goodbye to the year that's gone
And run to Twenty-Twentyone!
