Winning

AnneJay

With a starting shot, the sound of a gun,

Giving all you've got you are on the run,

As you pace along through each burning lap

Manouvering life from foe and trap.

When things are beyond your control,

And so much more has taken it's toll

Thoughts can strengthen, if you're dared,

From days gone by but never shared.

In your mind you're in far off places

Fields and lanes, wide open spaces

Think ahead with no defeat

A gentke kiss you will repeat.

A sea of faces cheer you on,

Split second, moments, then they're gone,

You're next move is the winning space

A triumph in this global race.

You aim to reach the dizzy height

And now it's all within your sight

The last lap, the final leap

Your efforts did not come cheap.

And so with glory days ahead

You weave your way through winning thread,

Arriving where you need to be,

Battlescarred, relieved and free.

Good words and so true, life can be hard but so satisfying when you look back.
