Once more my ticket had not arrived,
And as I looked at the concert
Nobodies ticket had reached them.
The orchestra were playing their hearts out
Into the empty auditorium.
Such a sad sight,
Such wonderful music,
But nobody listening,
Except perhaps people like me,
One of the millions around the world
That always listen to the concert,
The New Year’s Concert from Vienna.
The music so beautiful
Played with such love,
But nobody there to listen.
I was totally entranced,
I was there in Spirit
But then the tears began.
Not through music
This time,
But through the words,
The words of the conductor
Addressing the watching world,
And those words meant so much,
So much to me when he said
“Musicians bring Joy,
Hope,
Peace,
Brotherhood,
And Love with a capital L”.
The speech ended,
That speech meant so much to me.
Music is so important,
So important in my life
As it can be in all our lives,
It can bring us together,
And if the world can listen,
Listen to that symphony,
That symphony of harmony,
Then the world will be
Such a better place.

- Comment from author about the poem: No music video this time but the words of Riccardo Muti as he addressed the world at the New Years Day Concert in Vienna. I did open my words with "Once more my ticket had not arrived" but it has not arrived for the passed 72 years either.

A good write Gold.
Thanks Orchi.
Music always has the soothing touch that if you miss it you suffer some sort of malnutrition emotionally
So very true Amon.

My wife, KP, is on telly - AGAIN. In an Ant & Dec Show. So it's double horror!
Anything worse than Saturday night telly? I'm in The Masked Singer Show. lol.
Luckily my television will not transmit Ant& Dec or The Masked Singer - it has better taste.

Hi Andy,
A great write.
I wonder what 2021 will bring to a lot of live concerts put on hold from last year to take place this year?
Keep writing ✍ and safe during these challenging times.
FineB
Thank you FineB, I do hope the concerts start again, especially the Jazz Club that I used to go to once a month.

I suppose there are musicians who fit the conductors description but its unwise to put them all in one bag.
As a musician I don't consider myself different from any other musician i have met who played, not to give love but, because it feels good to play your instrument or sing. Yes it does feel good if ab audience appreciates your playing and ever nicer when a musician appreciates it.
I agree but music is so powerful that it has the ability to bring joy to everyone. As you know yourself sometimes when playing to an audience something happens and they really appreciated it and you play better. I can remember on one occasion when I was playing in a swing band the audience really appreciated what we were doing and I am sure that we ended up playing better than we could.
