They lie entombed within their covers
On sequenced pages grouped by chapters
Flanked by the title’s spine
Embossed sometimes with gold
To show the subject and the author
These words remain but printed symbols
Frozen until their meaning is revealed
And brought to life
By the mind’s interpretation and conversion
From cypher into meaning
The dormant words when woken reveal
By the unique arrangement of but twenty- six symbols
The author’s thoughts, descriptions and beliefs
To captivate by storytelling
Or to educate by the imparting of knowledge
The views and wisdom of the ages
Preserved in ink and lying latent
Until deciphered and channelled to the reader’s
Understanding and pleasure
Even after death the written word remains
A lasting testimony and memorial to the author’s time on earth
Preserved when all memories of his life are long forgotten
By his successors
The written word lives on to eternity
To be needed and enjoyed by even those as yet unborn

Very good write Classicmister, we can all get so lost in books, those twenty six symbols can take us to such wonderful places.
