Revelation - Seals One To Four

Tune: Unter Herrschen

('Come ye faithful, raise the anthem')

Revelation 6 v.1-8

***********

John did see when the Lamb* opened (*Christ)

The seals**, to Christ did attend (**the seven seals of a scroll)

And did hear the noise of thunder

One of the four beasts then there

Said, Come and see, and I did see

A white horse in majesty

He that sat on him had a bow

A crown given him, I know

And he went forth in conquering

And to conquer, victory bring

Then the second seal opened there

Second beast said, Come, see, share

There went out another horse, red

Power given rider, said

That he may from the earth peace take

Kill each other, turmoil make

There was given him a great sword

He rules as an overlord

And when opened wa the third seal

Third beast said, Come and see, feel

I did see a black horse, and he

Sat on him did have scales, see

I heard voice say, measure of wheat

For a penny, a day's feat# (# a day's work)

And three measures of barley for

The same, a penny for sure

And see you not hurt oil and wine

Protect you these gifts of mine

Then fourth seal was opened, and then

Fourth beast said, Come, see again

And I looked, and saw a pale horse

He proceeded on his course

His name that sat on him was Death

Hell followed him, poison breath

Power given him to destroy

Fourth part of the earth, no joy

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.7.8.7.8.7. metre. This describes the first four of the seven seals in Revelation. What may apply to our days? It's tricky to unravel some of the symbolisms of Revelation.

      Good one Orchi.
Was KP on that fourth horse?

Thanks Gold. Yes. it was a mis-print. It should be 'Her name that sat on him....',being KP! She can ride horses too - tally ho! lol.
