Dog or not we have mostly forgot

Poetic Dan

No touch

No talk

No eye contact!

All should know this, dog owners or not. Eye contact being one of the main reason for the miscommunication between us, plus the understanding that we are very intimidating beings.

No matter the emotional state we are in, when we want to do something not much will stop us..

I'll admit I can chat on this forever but still get a bit nervous before videos or writing, yet here I am, trying to push out of my comfort zone!

I don't know if people will watch or how many will see, but even just one makes a ripple of consciousness to break the fear or reality that creates this circle of mistrust & anxiety....

Nature way, is the only way!

You're so right Dan, not that you need me to tell you LOL. My jobs were always in peoples homes and often I would encounter that noisey alert nervous dog scenario. What do I do...I ignore it completely (unless it's growling and slavering - i'm out the door if its one of those). In it's own time the dog will quieten down and get enquisitive just as u suggest. I still ignore it and let it get used to the idea i'm not a threat. Now I love dogs so it's a pleasure if that dog changes it's demeanor and lets me pet it. They mostly do. Always a dog is more on the alert though if I, as a solitary big male with a deep voice, should come into it's space where it is with the lady of the house. This has always given me the impression that a dog or bitch is being very protective of that lady of the house. Everybody should be aware of these things in dog behaviour. Eye contact should be momentary, if at all, until the dog relaxes. Also if you pretend to yawn it helps relax the dog.... yawning cannot be seen as in any way aggressive.

Always good to read your words my friend and not feel like I just babble...

I must say you can't fake a yawn but it with put more oxygen in your body taking a deeper breath to relax, that they can feel... Alot of the time I still get caught out on being to tense and once I concentrate on my breathing Everything Changes!

Thank again for the feed back and always appreciate your time!

Funny as I scroll past the first few words... "not like you need me too"
My insecurities could eat me alive, I never know if I'm right lol

It's pretty obvious to anyone, who has read your stuff and seen your vids, that you know about dogs and how to relate to them. It's bloody obvious, so don't doubt yourself mate. It's something you learned because you wanted to. Self taught and bloody good at it. Stand tall, be proud.

Watching your vids it is plain to see that those dogs see you as someone special to them.

So true Dan, I was brought up with dogs in the house and you just get to know how to be with them so even now in my elder years and I meet dogs all is always fine and dogs can see this and respond so well.

Ha, I just want to pass on my experience as others have done, trying to break down the barriers that say I couldn't educate my way out of a wet paper bag...

Time to find my voice even when it cracks because spirits like yours keep my ship on track..

                  Thanks again for the support

'Nature way, is the only way!'
Amen to that a good write my fried,
                  Trust born of self worth,
mined from those 'lost minutes' within introspection's sleepless musings,
gifts us an understanding far greater than our intellect can seemingly comprehend - but somehow, we instinctively recognise as being unquantifiable yet undeniably: true...

Read this three times now and it keeps getting better... Loving the bounce! You are a natural healer with an intelligence to match...

                    Really appreciate your support
On what can feel like a tortured mind
