The Poet's Ploy

Kevin Michael Bloor

The poet has a way with words;

he rounds them up like farmer’s herds.

Arranges them upon the page

in measured lines, so he can gauge

their metre, rhythm, pace and rhyme.

Perfectionist; he takes his time,

but secretly,  and this is true:

puts pen to page to play with you,

to gently tug upon the strings

of your poor heart until it sings

a song so sweet, it will inspire,

like Orpheus upon his lyre!

This poet’s pleasing 'poem ploy'

puffs up his heart with pride and joy!

    That is exactly what we all are trying to do, Kevin. Well said.

    A 'little' sonnet with an incisive analysis of an aspiring poet's ways and means.
    Not 'little' at all, the subject as realised by you.

    So true Kevin.
