Tune: Lux Eoi
('Alleluia, Alleluia! hearts to heaven and voices raise')
Psalm 139 v.14-18 and v.23-24
*********
I will praise you, O LORD, for I
Am made by you, 'tis no lie
Made fearfully, wonderfully
That fear it awesomeness be
Marvellous are your works, and my
Soul knows well, and you are nigh
So I give thanks, you in each thing
Unto me in wisdom bring
My substance was not hid from you
When you did make me, all new
Made in secret, in the womb, you
Skilfully wrought there then too
You saw me before you made me
Things invisible you see
You continued, and me fashioned
Of your wonders there no end
How precious also are your thoughts
Various and of all sorts
Your thoughts unto me, O God! How
Great, I cannot count them now
If I try to, they be more than
Grains of sand on shore, how can
One then reckon up the sum whole?!
But we still can you extol
Waking, sleeping, working, resting
I still with you in each thing
You Creator, I your creature
So search me, O God, know sure
My heart, try me, and my thoughts know
If any wicked way show
Me, and lead me in your way to
Everlasting walk with you

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.7.8.7. 8.7.8.7. metre. One good thing out of this covid crisis, is new videos being produced by churches online - and not endless 'Chorus' type ones! Though I seem 'endless' sometimes, with my 'Alleluias' etc. Hopefully not idly strumming on, as it were, just using 'Choruses' to fill the time of singing, as it can seem to be in some places. A bit early for an Easter tune! lol.

Undoubtedly you have a poetically soulful way of relating with your creator.
Thanks Suresh.
Well penned, orchi!
Thanks Fred. You 'observing' from up that tree?!
More information on your uninflected "be". I was listening to someone "talk like a pirate" and say "these be good". Apparently this "pirate talk" is a development (presumably through the pirates of Penzance) of "West Country English", a new one on this American.

Thanks Robert. Yes, and they may say 'Oohh arrr' a lot too!
Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold.
