walking

dusk arising

im gonna wake up the birds this morning
making like its - a new me dawning
i nearly stayed all night
makin out till morning light
hi senorita,
the people call me peter
one look at her eyes
then i just had to meet her

.   now i'm walkin
.        walkin, ...
.             walkin cross the town
.   shadows in the night -
.             falling all around
.   mannequin windows,
.             dancin round my eyes
.   sidewalks dancin
.             like its motorized,
.   yes i'm walkin,
.         dancin
.              walkin cross the town

cats and claws come out of your corners
get ready for the heat - to be so much warmer
when it feels so right
the brightest green light
hey senorita
needs no - thin to complete her
that look in her eyes
and then i start to eat her

.   now i'm walkin
.        walkin, ...
.             walkin cross the town
.   shadows in the night -
.             falling all around
.   mannequin windows,
.             dancin round my eyes
.   sidewalks dancin
.             like its motorized,
.   yes i'm walkin,
.         dancin
.             walkin cross the town

  • Comment from author about the poem: This is a light hearted pop type song i wrote in the early hours trying to remember what it felt like as a young man when every conquest was the real thing but you had to walk home afterwards. I havent tried to polish it.

Sounds like you, awake during the wee early hours has persisted, now you write about it...
Looks polished enough to me - when are you going to play it?

    • dusk arising

Play it? (dusk reaches for his ukelele) ... you hum it, I'll follow.

      • Doggerel Dave

Nah - I don't want to steal your show.

Give ya a tip mate. Get a 2litre empty pop bottle and put about 1.7 litres of hot (not boiling) water in it and squeeze the air out. Keeps ya warm whilst you wait for screen to demist etc.

Good read dusk. Girls have a way of lingering in the sweet spots of the heart.

Great Poem d a, reminds me of that one time when I spent all my money on her, then had to walk five hours to get home. The things we do as teens!

I rekko that sales of 'get drunk at home' alcohol will have rocketed in lockdown, you're deffo not on your own. My alcohol intake is far higher than my usual.
