Her Again

Lizzie Lara

Her Again

There are times in this world when everything turns into a, sure enough, deep hole.

As I walked into the deepest parts of myself; I saw her. She was standing there with big brown eyes, curly hair and a huge smile on her face. I almost didn't recognize her.

There are times in this world when everything you once knew, turns into a deep black sea. Not because of its pollution, but because it is filled with sad souls that can't escape.

That is where I have seen her… the girl with the curly brown eyes of course.

I dove into the black sea to find her. I almost caught her, but she slipped away once again. I was convinced that she was a figure in my own imagination. She was there because I wanted her to be there.

There are times in this world when everything you have ever known, turns into gold. Never knowing when, never knowing how, but the girl with the curly brown eyes has found me.

She smiled at me with such known excitement. She did not hesitate to ask… “are you ready now?” she said to me as he raised her hands..

“Now, I’m ready, I said.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This is the first time in almost a year that I have had the mindset to sit down and write. I admit, it might not make sense and it is a little rusty... but it's what was in my head at the time. This poem spoke to me only because there has been so much going on in my life. I hope you guys like it... Also, please leave me any comments! I am open to judgment, questions and concerns about my writings. Thank you

So you invite suggestions and concerns both here and in your last poem.
Trouble is, you have no control over who might pop in...In this case It's me and I have to confess that beyond your encounter with a girl with eye trouble, and a hint of gender fluidity, I'm not quite sure about the nature of your encounter. I like the observation that the world is in a deep hole - perhaps you can make some commentary about that next time.....

Self-discovery is a beautiful thing....and you said it well, Lizzie!

a simplified depiction of introspection using a relatable metaphor, good read
though for me, it seems in your laudable effort to make your writing accessible, there are some aspects you've chosen to omit, hopefully I'm wrong,
still - always remember: write for yourself, prioritise your 'voice' and let everything else, take care of itself
