That Photograph.

Goldfinch60

That really took me back!

A photograph was found,

My lover and I

Before we were married,

That short period

Of seven months

Between meeting and marriage.

The love of my life was with me

For such a long time,

With our love getting stronger,

Getting stronger each day,

Each day of our lives.

On the day of her passing

Our love was still there,

And each moment she has been gone

My love for her still gets stronger.

That photo showed our beginning,

And I was with her ‘til her end.

I will be with her once more

When I meet her,

And we go forward together for eternity,

In our never ending love.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I was sorting out a few things in the house and came across this photograph of Joyce and I before we were married. Obviously the video is very meaningful to me. Yes I did have my hair permed when I met Joyce back in 1981.

      Thanks Orchi.

      The beards hid our age.

I can understand why that photo is important to you, Andy. It is sometimes hard to understand how things change. In that picture you look so permanently settled in an era I know so well. In future I won't visualise you in any other way.
Thanks for sharing it with me (us).

Andy, that photo and your lovely poem made me think back to my wedding day. Love that poem! You inspired me to maybe one day write a love poem to my wife and post it with a wedding picture.
Of course, I am looking a lot better now, but no matter...

Thank you Fred, I have written many love poems for my wife, and still do now that she has passed.

We all look better as we mature Fred, at least that is what my friendly mirror leads me to believe.

              Andy
