The Election

M.E.M.

I stare into the bright blue screen in my hand

Because my country just turned blue.

Replacing the bumbling elephant

with the ancient donkey.

I think all is not lost

after all.

After all,

The fat orange cheese puff is leaving.

Is his not?

I didn’t hope for much

these past four years.

Only that I would live

and that world war three

would not take place in my lifetime.

The donkey knows the customs

and the ways of government.

Please give me hope Blue Donkey

I have been without it for a long time.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This is a poem I didn’t in class. I had to use a memory and add 2/4 things: color, animal, smell, a joyful feeling. I don’t really know if this is “humor” but there are funny moments. Comments are welcome. Created: January 28, 2021

You covered all your bases M.E.M with a fine write.
