It’s easy to be.
Who you want to be.
With great glee.
Acting ever so carefree.
In this world’s reality.
When things are going our way, for you or me.
It’s tough to be.
Who you want to be.
Struggling with life's difficulty.
Exposing who is inside grimly.
In all reality.
When life is falling apart, all around you or me.
As the mask we all wear in sensibility.
Breaks down to reveal finally.
A showing for the world to see.
Who all are in susceptibility.
Who we are in actuality.
Deep within our souls of hidden possibility.
Hidden away from the world’s scrutiny.
In times like this we see finally.
Who we are most definitely.
As it only counts for you or me.
Who we are in life’s reality.
When all Hell is breaking loose around us in Totality.
To reveal who and or what we are completely.
That my family & my friends is the key.
To who you & I are in this life, Really!

- Comment from author about the poem: Why is it mostly only when in extremes does circumstances squeeze out of us who we really are in life’s reality? Only when enduring things like pain or loss or joy or Love do we show our true selves? Raw & emotional! As they rise up from deep within to finally come out in unbridled expression. Whether it ends up revealing our better self or worse self. Tell me your greatest source of ecstasy & I will tell you the source of your greatest heartache. They are the same thing. Do tell me then “Why are we Consistently doing the same damn thing over & over with little variance and expecting a different outcome?”
