  I watched all 5 hours of it live yesterday fascinated and dumbfounded by the nonesense of it all. . And they say The US is Democratic.- far from it.

  Explaining America to those outside is rather like explaining an orgasm to a virgin. – but here goes…
  America died, for many people, when the races were integrated, when a black president was elected, when the others were let in, when women began to excel in the workplace, when abortion became legal, when gays were allowed to marry; have families, and when trans gender people became famous. They experienced a sense of being deprived of something to which they are entitled. It is the discontent felt when one compares their position in life to others who they feel are equal or inferior but have unfairly had more success than them.
  This is the conversation we are having with each other, right now, it’s loud, dangerous and right out the front yard.

    Yes i take all your points on board - it's a real cauldron and I feel for you all.
    
    I must say was held spell bound by the trial when a clearly guilty individual was being judged, not by an an impartial jury, but by Senators who owe more allegiance to their big company backers, their party and their own personal interests than they do to their country - added to which the whole Trump presidency has brought the States into much disrepute beyond its borders.
    
    Sorry - don't really like appearing to be critical of other counties and I may have got it all wrong - we have our problems here of course, but this is just how it comes across to the rest of the world.

    It’s something we have to do. It’s a seismic shift; long time coming.
    Don’t be distracted by the shinny bits.
    The question being resolved here is
    Are we going forward as “One People”?
    Or continuing as two “Quality folks who count” and
    “Trashy folks who don’t”
