I dare you to be honest,
With nothing up your sleeves,
Like a tree blossoming in spring,
Baring all its leaves.
What is your truth?
Do you care about what people think?
Are you going to run away?
Like a squid expelling it's ink?
The truth is and isn't,
So you decide what it is,
Release your bow,
And try not to miss.
Trust can only be gained,
From all of this,
Expressing your truth,
Attaining a state of bliss.

Good stuff! Never be afraid of telling it how it is. The trouble it brings me can be mischievous fun.
Smile lots, people love it.
Thank you Dusk arising, the truth can be liberating or embarrassing.. either way one can only live and learn..
I love the flow and the rhyming . Good poem
Thank you yellow rose for taking the time to read 🌹
Love this great read
Thank you heather bee 🌹
I'd vote for that anytime. In particularly persuasive verse anyway.
Phonies out for ever!
Thanks Dave, "phonies out forever!' 🎈
Very true Alita, we must be true to all in our lives and if this happened to everyone the world would be a better place.
Following on from what d a has said:
"Smile, it confuses people."

you have such a way of wording your write's, impactful: yet, so poetically romantic (sorry if that makes no sense)..

L. B. Mek, thank you for reading my piece.. My husband and I have been working on the truth over the years and it's truly liberating.. 🌹 Here's to accepting the truth graciously cheers 🥃
Truth and honesty are the basis of every relationship. You expressed it well!
Truth and honesty equals liberation, lies and dishonesty equals inconsistency and distrust.. but forgiveness is what allows us to move on.. 🌹🌹🌹
Is a beatiful poem about the truth and the need to be honest with us and with the people, in every moment of our lives.
It sure is Jorge, despite how hard it is to accept.. Thanks for reading 🎈
What are the quotes, "You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free...", and, "To thine own self be true...."? Wise words from times gone past and, here in your poem, wisdom has also revealed itself! Great write!!!
Indeed it is.. How about..
"What seems to be, is, to those to whom it seems to be, and is productive of the most dreadful consequences to those to whom it seems to be, even of torments, despair, eternal death.”
— William Blake
Honesty to oneself is vital, healing and acceptance tends to follow if we can just be truthful.. speak now or forever hold your peace ✌️
William Blake is one of the greats!!! Amen! You are truly a poet! Rock on!
