Funfair

heatherbee

Round and round feels like the speed of light

Lights are flashing musuc loud all mixed up smell and sound

Colours are many rides are short life feels crazy as we twist and turn

See the candy the burgers to theres fries all over where like animals in a zoo

The walzer, the haunted house the bumper cars too there all there waiting for you

Crowds are crazy queues are long why are we waiting, shout out it wont be long

The music is loud many sounds are playing  its ride after ride until you feel sick you shout out this ride it's too quick

But  now its all over it's time to go home your shoes are all muddy you so want to be alone

The funfair it's over and fun had by all see you all next year with fun rides and stalls .

This read brought back so many childhood memories Heather - - those bumpers always brought up more than one candyfloss for me....... loved your write on the thrill of a funfair.

Thankyou, it popped in my head this morning as I lay in my bed not moving around so good today but get my spine injection on sunday so hopefully up and about in a few days. Yup I thought of the funfair called the hoppings here where I live. Just thought how I maybe dont get on rides these days but I love the smells the treats and the atmosphere it's a great part of growing up too a great memory even if I was sick at times lol.

Over tired kiddies with sticky pink candy floss stained faces sob and complain before back seat sleep finds them being carried to bed. Older sister wants a jam jar for yer poly bag goldfish. Mum's stuffed toy placed next to a sleeping head. Smiles of parental contentment and a cup of tea.

I like it when posted poetry takes me there and i live a bit of it. See what you did?

I moved around the country a lot and have never lived near a permanent funfair. Whilst in Nottingham we had the Goose Fair each autumn which was supposed to be the biggest funfair gathering in the country.. though whether thats true i don't know.
Travelling fun fairs will be doing no trade at the moment. Must be tough on them.

Memories of Dreamland in Margate come to mind when I was a kid so many, many years ago.
Thank you for bringing back those memories. Never did win a goldfish!

            a fun read, nostalgic indeed
thanks for sharing dear poet, I agree its not always good to go back, some memories are best kept as mementos, for reliving and retracing tends to lessen our reverie's perception
