Tune: St James' Air
('How lovely is thy dwelling place')
2 Corinthians 8 v.16-24 parts
*********
Offering for Jerusalem
Paul did collect from them
They at Corinth, here policy
This how it sure would be
Paul's friend Titus, and a brother
Would go, they did concur
To take this grace, this offering
It to the needy bring
It would the Lord Him glorify
And would too by and by
Show their ready mind, they did care
And helped the needy there [In Jerusalem]
Avoiding that there any blame
Should be, and too no shame
In giving of this great gift they
Showed honesty alway
Providing, act honourably
In sight of God, so be
And so doing in sight of men
All be harmony then
They of Corinth this diligent
That this offering be sent
So Paul and friends, they confident
Their love shown, it well-meant

This all went 'whoooosh!' over my head you know orchi.
Thanks dusk. It's about a request for money (yes!) made by Paul to the church in Corinth (Southern Greece), to help poorer folk in Jerusalem.
Love shown is always gratefully received.
Andy
Thanks Andy. Erm, send contributions to me! All contributions gratefully received. lol.
Well done Orchi.
Thanks Jerry.
I guess they didn't have the Salvation Army around then.
Thanks Fred. Nope!
The Gift of giving written in this Poem strikes my heart well. Blessings all around indeed. Great Write orchidee. Don
Side note: Now that you lit the Fire of giving in me, "Where do I send my donation?"
Thanks Don. Why, simple, send all to me! lol. This I say in jest, defeating the object of this 'Giving' Series, of giving unselfishly, sensibly, etc. St Paul says we don't have to give away so much that we are in financial hardship ourselves.
Btu practically - give to churches; charities; good causes; animal rescue centres; medical research; etc; etc.
But I've ranted, of a greedy church (one church, not EVERY church) some of whom have decided to rebuild in these difficult days.
