Bad Advise

FredPeyer

They say

‘If life gives you a lemon,

make lemonade’

the lemon as a metaphor

for bad

the lemonade as a metaphor

for good

How stupid is that?

lemon juice is healthy

lemonade with all that sugar

not so much

what if somebody hits you

offer him the other cheek?

all that does is

you end up with two black eyes

looking like a slow learner

why is it that people always

think they have to hand out

unwanted and more often

than not ridiculous advise

even if they have no clue

it makes them feel superior

why not be yourself

do what your guts tell you

good or bad

at least you don’t

have to thank

anybody else

for bad advise

Very true Fred, we must always be ourselves in our lives.

    Andy

    • FredPeyer

Thanks Andy, I think that sometimes we act on advise from others without checking if that advise actually makes sense.

      A fine write Fred.
Yet that does not give the other person licence to bop us one - or two - them cheeks!
Similar to - if one hand offends you, cut if off. But we will still have the other hand that can offend too. Doh! It's an expression exaggerated for emphasis though, to root out wrong things, not meant literally.

      • FredPeyer

Thanks orchie, you are right, some of it is not meant literally, even though some people take it that way.

We see this all to often, even here on MPS. I'm as guilty as any one in handing out advice too but I do try to imagine what would be a wholesome outcome should my advice be taken.

Will your words be absorbed by the knee-jerkers with their advice one wonders.

        • FredPeyer

Thanks d a, sometimes we hand out advise without thinking, or based on something we heard, without knowing the exact circumstances of the 'advisee'.

        • L. B. Mek

at least this started poetic in tone, lol
I can empathise with your frustrations Fred
always good to let it out

Thanks L.B., your comment is right on!

Not everyone will take kindly to advice, but I am sure if your intentions are honourable which no doubt they are, many will live to rue the day they ignored the message you left for them here .......

            • FredPeyer

Thanks so much Neville! You are absolutely right, and I just realized that I contradicted myself by giving people advise not to take any advise! Ah well.....:-)

            • mrbleasdale

This is so true and resonates so much with me. People with no understanding of you or what you’re going through, feel like they’re giving ‘superior advice’ that you should listen to without an understanding

              • FredPeyer

Thanks for your comment mrbleasdale. You know, a lot of people give advise because they want to help without realizing that either one does not want advise, or their advise has nothing to do with the real problem. I learned to just listen and then walk away.
