Mind.

Goldfinch60

In our life many things come to us,

Some we accept,

Some we dismiss.

In dismissing them

Do we miss something?

Something that could take us,

Take us to a better place.

Our minds must be kept open,

Open to look at those things,

Look at them properly.

We may then ignore them

But at least they have been seen,

Have been investigated.

We must come to realise

That our mind is like a parachute,

It does not work

If it is not open.

So always keep an open mind,

We may be pleasantly surprised

At what comes into it,

And comes into our lives.

A mind is like a parachute, it does not work if it is not open.  -  Frank Zappa

    Good write Gold.
Why did I not think in 1066? Why did I say those fatal words to Harold?!

  • Goldfinch60

    Thanks Orchi.

    Why, oh why indeed?

a wonderful portrait of a nonconformist visionary's legacy, Andy

    • Goldfinch60

      Thank you Mek.

Good advice, Andy.Sometimes that takes much effort. You are no doubt aware that Google monitors our searches and presents , then and in the future, choices we might find acceptable (they will have trouble with me as my choices can be pretty random, like the stuff i put on here) and so on; it's everywhere.
However let's guard against a mind so open that nothing lodges there at all....

      • Goldfinch60

Thank you Dave, let Google search away they will only think "What the hell is he doing now!" and very soon they won't find me anyway as I will be out on the croquet lawn knocking seven bells out of a ball.

True words at the end of your comment Dave, I saw that happen with my wife's dementia.

        Andy

Please Andy, don't think I was alluding to your wife or dementia. I was thinking of a 'dedicated follower of fashion' who has no moral base upon which to pin anything at all - one of the most pointless people anyone could encounter...
Give them croquet balls a good workout when you get the chance.

          • Goldfinch60

In no way did I think you were alluding to my wife’s dementia.

There are two things we must keep open: The mind and the heart!

                • Goldfinch60

                  So true Fred.

Nice write there Goldfinch60. I like the way FredPeyer put it and agree. Keep open the heart, the mind as you move through this here world. Don

Great write, an open mind is essential in this life to understand and grow 🌹

                    • Goldfinch60

Thank you Alita, yes we must always have an open mind, especially in the world in which we now live.

Love that Zappa quote. Difficult to remain open minded on some subjects but being prepared to listen to reasoning when well presented is a definite plus.

                      • Goldfinch60

Yes it is a great quite d a. What you say is true but if we do not listen with an open mind we will just stagnate.

                        Andy
