Captain Tom

Tom Campbell

Rest in peace Sir Captain Tom
You will be sadly missed
By raising cash for NHS
So many lives you've kissed
and a number one with Michael Ball
Just added to the pot,
Everyone will benefit from that
So thanks a lot .
Your country's very proud of you
And to learn from you we'll try
I'm sure you'll leave us all today
With Spitfires in the sky.
The world's at war with COVID
and to protect you would be right
but there you where out in the yard
Putting up the biggest fight.
You went out walking proud as punch.
With medals on your chest,
You served your country in the war
But today you lay to rest
You where just what Britain needed
And you gave us all a lift
With many people feeling low
You where our greatest gift,
You received a knighthood from the Queen for the amazing work you've done, and you'll be our biggest hero
When this Covid war is won.
The world will bow its head today
For another brave soldier fell
Your memory will stay alive
For our children we will tell .
We'll all remember Captain Tom
for that ever loving smile
and the fact that for the NHS
You went that extra mile.
