Prayer For Purity

orchidee

Tune: Song 46

('Drop, drop, slow tears')

Psalm 19 v.12-14

*************

Who can understand their errors? Cleanse me

LORD, from secret sins, then I from them free

Keep back me too from sins presumptuous

For I your servant am, I do confess

Let sins not have over me dominion

But forgive, cleanse, and heal me from each one

Then I shall be upright and innocent

From great sins, grant me grace to here repent

Let the words of my mouth, meditation

Of my heart be acceptable, be done (i.e. Amen)

Acceptable in your sight, you my LORD

My strength, my redeemer, my living Word

... You can beat an egg..
but ya just can't beat a good old bit of meditation, can ya ...

        • orchidee

Thanks Neville. Yes, the end bit is often a short prayer said by preachers before their sermon/talk. It may become unacceptable if it drones on for ages! Doh! or is it part of a Boney M song? too?!

Act not so ye may have to repeat, or else words such as yours may yet salvage the day

I guess I could need some 'purity', orchie, haven't been 'pure' since childhood, I guess.

Thanks Fred. I read about some 'impure cells' but some of it went over me head, in some scientific explanation.
