Femme Fatale
Gun in hand
she shot the son of a bitch
dead square in the chest.
Must we call and ask someone (911) for permission?
He broke in and attacked her with a knife.
Mother and child, alone
grieving from her husband's passing.
Her daughter constantly asking
“Where has Daddy gone?”
That rainy night in the heartland:
Mother and daughter coloring in blue
chosen ‘cause it was Daddy’s favorite.
She heard the door knob turn
and bolted to the bedroom for her .32
She called her daughter who came running at her
stashed her in the closet and took a stand
at the foot of her bed, her gun in hand
terrified and shaking, she heard the glass shatter
and the kitchen door squeak open...Then
“I know you’re in there! Come on out!.”
She quickly opened the door
and fired two shots
directly into his chest.
He dropped his knife and with a twisted smile
stared at her for a while
then collapsed onto the floor...Dead.

Femme Fatale indeed.
The most dangerous kind.
Thanks for reading it.
Ooh, a scary write.
If it was not so serious - a bit of dark humour - I called The Samaritans for help here in the UK. They were engaged! Doh! I can't win. (heehee). You have them in the USA?
It's actually based on a real incident.
Were they engaged to each other? Is that legal in the UK?

Whatever. Thank you for reading and commenting.
I could reply: Oh lol, engaged TO The Samaritans! Me joke was: the phone line was engaged when I called 'em!
And he was only there looking for the guy he'd seen tun into that house who had stabbed this man's own daughter.
What a twist and turn these stories can take.
What motivated your knifeman and why.
Would I do the same in her circumstance.
What will the police do, ever looking to charge people with a crime.
There were many possible twists I could have used, but decided to record the incident and leave the rest to imagination.
