ever since his fur fell out
Jerry the Fox Terrier
knew something
was not quite right
daytimes and walkies
passed without incident
but somnambulism
had overtaken Jerry
forepaws outstretched
eyes firmly closed
up on hind quarters
Jerry moonlighted
each night his skills
seriously advanced
and poetic thoughts
filled nightime delights
his paw skills with pen
and keyboard dexterity
spurred contributions
to "My Pawetic Sighs"
regularly published
he felt quite at home
for every dog knows
all poets are barking
(for non Brits, saying someone is 'barking' is a colloquial Brit way of saying they are barking mad or insane
Oh and somnambulism is sleep walking)

.............. pawsitively barking ...
Good write, Dusk.
Cute dog. A poem about said dog, or more about the poet? Liked the dual meaning. - Phil A.
If your next poem is about a fox, we'll know who's channeling whom. Watching a dog dream and listening to it mutter certainly reminds me of a couple of barking characters I've known, some of them mumbling poems for all I can tell.
Of course poets are barking, why would they sit for so many hours putting letters on the paper.
