Pleasing Praise

orchidee

Tune: Hanover

('O worship the King')

Psalm 149 v.1-6

*********

Praise, praise you the LORD, sing Him a new song

Praise Him with believers all day, night long

Rejoice in Him who made you, He creates all

Be joyful in Him, and on Him humbly call

Children of the King, we His daughters, sons

Praise and worship Him, leaving out no one

Expressions in voice, song, and music be heard

His truth ever stands sure, the truth of His word

Use all skills and gifts to make melody

To him, whatever your style, background be

Priase Him in the dance, play on timbrel and harp

In harmonies sweet, not over-loud or sharp

For the LORD He does sure take pleasure in

His people, provides forgiveness of sin

He will beautify the meek and humble

With salvation, they glorious to Him all

Let the people be joyful, and rejoice

Extol Him and uplift him with loud voice

Let the high praises of God in their mouth be

Word of God in their hand as two-edged sword, see

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 10.10.11. 11. metre. One place was so loud that the floor vibrated. Loud yes (verse 5) but not over-loud (verse 3). You dancing, and getting them timbrels (tambourines) and harps out; even lyres if you got one?! The dancing can't be forced. I don't do it myself.

Sorry Gold - another NEW song (verse 1). I will sing it in this padded cell. Not cos of any nuttiness, but cos it's sound-proof! heehee.

Yes another new tune, money is involved somewhere along the way to produce new ones.

I thought in verse three you might have been speaking to my style of writing - giving me a free pass: “Use all skills and gifts to make melody To him, whatever your style, background be...” but then you reign it in by declaring “not over-loud”. Come on O “Let the people be joyful ...”

Thanks Gary. Erm, I meant not be extreme over-loud. as in one place - I had terrible headache afterwards, and the floor vibrated with the Worship Group playing (no organ though!).
I suppose I could have included some 'English reserve' here. Also, 'coughing reverently' in church, as I read in a book! lol.
Make up your mind Orchi - loud or not?! lol.

Good heavens no organ! Tell me someone had a pitch-pipe on hand!
