In Praise of the Fountain Pen!

Classicmister

Pencils, biros, roller ball

Suffice for simple speedy scrawl

But to those who want to write with flair

There is no instrument that can compare

That tool beloved of all sage men

Nought but the trusted fountain pen

To match the writer’s single style

We can select the nib profile

Be it broad, medium or fine

We can achieve the perfect line

Enabling choice of varied scripts

Adding art to manuscripts

Out-dated tool some will contend

No longer in the modern trend

That to devotees such a slur

What else coveys one's character?

Theirs fighting talk that brings discord

The pen is mightier than the sword!

    Good write CM.

A harmless little hobby you have there Cmister, all neatly advocated for with your characteristic poetic skill.
However why stop there? Why not back to quills (provided no permanent harm befalls the donor)?
But for me, with handwriting which more closely resembles hieroglyphics than anything else plus irrational spelling, the keyboard word processor and spell checker couldn’t come quickly enough…
    Good try, but I ain’t going there…

Thanks for your comment Dave - My handwriting is not too legible either but it looks better with the aid of a broad nibbed fountain pen!

Good words CM, I too use fountain pens and have quite a few of them, I also have dip pens as I dabble in Calligraphy.

Andy - Thanks for commenting - Good to hear that you are a fellow fountain pen user. I have not dabbled with calligraphy but something I might try.

          Go well
