Garrett

Lockdown 2.0

A weary sea vessel floating off course,

Whipped by the winds heavy tongue with no remorse,

Knowing the sun graced promised land is not far out of sight,

But the monotonous nothingness holds you close at night,

Fear creeps in like a ghostly butler serving bitter truths you'd rather ignore,

A welcoming lighthouse nowhere in sight nor sign of shore,

Daggers of doubt dealt like lightning bolts at dawn,

Whilst you wipe the sleep from your eyes and move your hand to mask a yawn,

Seconds, minutes, hours, routineless and bear,

Heavy cloud cover casts dark shadows like headlines of despair,

Anchored with the swirl of your every waking thought,

The tides they are turning somewhere there's a future to be bought,

A message in a bottle tells of a solstice soaked in rum wild and free,

Lifeboats calling on the venerable your last flare illuminates the sky for all to see.
