Perfect Afternoon.

Goldfinch60

What a perfect afternoon,

Hitting those balls over the lawn.

The sun shone down on us as we played,

Played the game we loved so much,

The first game in the new world we have.

It was a perfect afternoon

Made even more so as I was playing so well

That I beat him,

Beat him twice just by knocking those balls straight,

Straight through the hoops,

On that croquet lawn where we had put in so much time,

So much time to make sure it was ready,

Ready for the new season after these Strange Times.

  • Comment from author about the poem: As many of you know I am a croquet nut. During lockdown we have not been able to play the game but we have been able to look after the lawns. We have spent a lot of time doing this to try to get the lawns into good condition. This we have achieved and to of us had a couple of games to see all was Ok and ready for Monday next when we can return to playing croquet under limited conditions.
