Tune: St Magnus
('The head that once was crowned with thorns')
Psalm 5 parts
*******
Give ear unto my words, O LORD
So then I be assured
That you my meditation know
And hear my prayers below
In the morning I will direct
Prayers to you, and expect
That you will hear, and I will look
To you, not now forsook
I will come into your house for
You show much mercy sure
In godly fear in your temple
My worship give you all
Lead me, LORD, in your righteousness
Enemies I confess
Do trouble me, your path make straight
For me, so blessed my state
Let all they who do trust in you
Ever rejoice anew
With favour you will them surround
Their hope in you is found

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. metre. More of a post-Easter/Ascension-tide theme in the original hymn really.
