Tune: St Fulbert
('Ye choirs of new Jerusalem')
John 17 v.1-5
**********
Christ prayed before His suffering
Pleas to Father did bring
Lifted up eyes to heaven there
Did all with Father share
Said, Father, the hour come is
Glorify your Son, thus
That the Son He may then so do
Also glorify you
As you, Father, have given Him
All power, not by whim
Power, authority over
All flesh on earth for sure
This is life eternal, that they
Know you, Father, today
You the only true God, and too
Know Jesus Christ, Him view
He is the Son whom you have sent
May people here repent
And so come to salvation's day
Through Christ the Life, Truth, Way
I have on earth you glorified
Father, and none beside
Have finished work you gave me true
To do, to reveal you
And now, Father, glorify me
With your own self which, see
I had with you before the world
In your plan was unfurled
