Grid

John Prophet

Grid.
Systems
in place.
Circling
the globe.
Overhead.
Underneath.
All around.
Grip
tightens.
Mind
grabbing,
strangling
the soul.
Free will
denied.
Canceled.
The grid
reaches.
Reaches
into the
mind.
Asimov's
Mule.
Altering
attitudes
kneading
perspectives.
Grid
flowing into
the mind.
The soul.
Freedom
of uniqueness
crushed.
Single pane
of glass
information
flows.
Soon,
to be
installed
direct.
End of
the past.
Designer
of the
future.
Brave
new world?
Indeed!

Some of us in that Brave New World think outside the box and are beyond the future planned for us.

      Hi Andy,

Us short timers, those who’ve been around the block a few times can see what’s coming and sidestep. Others I’m afraid are being reformatted. Thank you for reading

great wordplay and theme on Asimov's laws (mule indeed)
thought provoking, astute and impassioned commentary!
while briefly studying computer science and they were lecturing
this supposedly 'statute laws' to programming, I too
couldn't help wondering how negligently short-sighted
and self-servingly ignorant, it all sounded
I mean: what rule exists within humanity to adhere?
by what measure do you quantify integrity
      when our very choices
curate existence's binary of fate or ill-fate...
      how easy to forget
in the very same generation that nurtured
      that lauded humanitarian Gandhi
      'our' collective society helped curate:
that human nightmare of cruelty, Hitler...
and what has cost more lives
      in the history of humankind
than that corrosive perversion of love
      titled theology...

“what rule exists within humanity to adhere?” NONE! There will always be those who’ll push the envelope beyond sanity. Thank you for reading.
