Tune: Horsley
('There is a green hill')
Luke 23 v.26-43 parts
*******
On way to crucifixion site
Jesus the world's true Light
One Simon, he does bear His cross
Who dies to heal our loss
Midst company, much lamenting
And too of bewailing
Jesus said, Daughters, not for me
Weep, but for yourselves, see
For if they do these things these days
Follow on in such ways
In these days, which are as green tree
What deeds [shall] in dry tree be?
When crucified, it Jesus' plea
Father, forgive them free
For they know not what they do, how
They put me to death now
Two criminals too crucified
There with Him, ere they died
One repentant said, Jesus, Lord
Look on me, hear my word
And remember me when you come
Into your kingdom, home
Jesus said, Truly, with me you
Shall join paradise new
