A Miracle To Mary

Tune: Lux Eoi

('Alleluia, Alleluia! hearts to heaven and voices raise')

John 20 v.11-18

**********

Mary Magdalene at tomb stayed

Weeping there, she was dismayed

She stooped down, and looked then inside

Two angels there, did not hide

They were in white, in tomb sitting

Their radiance displaying

At the head one, at the feet one

Where had lain Jesus, God's Son

They said to her, Woman, Why do

You weep? She said to them true

Because they have taken away

My Lord, I know not this day

Where they have laid him, and when she

Had said this turned round, did see

Jesus standing, but did not know

That it was Jesus, e'en so

Jesus said to her, woman, why

Do you weep? Whom do you seek?

She did think He was the gardener

And did say unto Him, Sir

If you have taken Him away

Tell me where he lays this day

And I will then take Him away

Make burial safe, I say

Jesus said unto  her, Mary

She turned around, Him did see

Said, Rabboni, Which is, Master

Her risen Lord and Saviour

Jesus said, Hold not on to me

I not ascended yet be

But go unto the disciples

To they who have heard my calls

Say to them, I ascend unto

My Father, your Father too

And my God, and your God also

This be true, you may it know

So Mary disciples did tell

That she had seen the Lord well

And that He had spoken these things

To her, good news she each brings
