Oh To Be

CLM

Oh, to be a thought
In someone’s mind.
To be the words
On someone’s lips.
To be the dream they search for,
But never find.
To be the warmth
Upon their fingertips.

Oh, to be the song
In someone’s heart.
To be the rhyme
They’ve tried so long to pen.
To occupy the spaces
Between their thoughts.
To open up your heart
Time and time again.

I really like this poem. I read it as being about empathy, feeling what others feel. As such, I think you've done a wonderful job of conveying that emotion. your words leave a feelin that is almost surreal, "Oh, to be a thought" and your last two lines express what is the origin of your poem A lovely piece of poetry. - Phil A.

I really like this. I think you voice a desire within all of us who are not bursting with self assuredness.

I will place this among my favourite MPS poems.

With words like these you would be all those things to many people, including me.
