Truthful Lives.

Goldfinch60

It came to me, the other day,

What if we cared, in what we say,

What sort of world would pass us by

If in our lives, we’d never lie.

Would we be able to survive,

In a completely truthful life?

I wander how many people think about what they say . Sometimes it seems easier for some people to lie ...

Sometimes the truth can be painful , but then again so can lies

    • Goldfinch60

Thank you for your comments yellowrose, there is much truth in what you say.

      Good write Gold.
Would we have courage to always be truthful? Would everyone accept what we say, if we were always truthful? Would WE always accept what others say to us?
There is sneakiness, 'white lies', etc where we 'get through life' at times, I suppose. Then we may have to maintain the lie, if we start one.

It is a very strange thought for everybody to always tell the truth, I am sure that we could not live that way and be happy in our lives.

I don't think I lie - and I do know it has got me into much trouble over the years...Sometimes I wonder what is wrong with me....
        Good little poem, Andy.
If it weren't for one intervening entry, you would be ready for a rhymer hat trick tomorrow....

        • Goldfinch60

I don't lie but to keep people happy I may sometime 'bend the truth'.

You asked for it I have written a rhymer for you - don't say you have not been warned!

Speaking the truth in response to a direct question has landed me with all sorts of problems in the past. Is this where white lies comfortably creep into our lives of daily compromise.

          • Goldfinch60

So very true d a, we need to sometimes 'bend the truth'.

such a thought provoking and engaging write Andy, a great stimulus topic for open dialogue!
being true to ourselves and the telling of lies, have differing connotations and impacts..
I feel lying is inevitable to some degree,
some completely delude themselves and proudly boast they never do, while rest of us fidget and mention words like 'white' and 'bending' to drape our discomfort with admitting to telling a few lies, now and then..
personally, I think the most important thing is that we don't lie to ourselves, its impossible to anticipate all the madness waiting for us in the world, so we've all learnt from childhood to word our 'truths' in a certain way or for some, just got good at telling lies - outright,
but if we can limit and control the lies we tell ourselves, then we can face our own truth's and insure we 'police' ourselves, then it matters less how everyone else judges our words, because we know we're doing the best we can and nothing more can be asked of us..
(but what do I know? I may be deluding myself with these very words I type, lol)

All can do Mek is the best we can to ensure our lives and the lives of those around us are in a good place, if it means 'bending the truth' and we are happy with it then all will be well.

I think some people lie when they don't know what else to say. In the end, it is what it is. AP
