Heartstrings

CLM

Playing my heartstrings like your own personal harp,

I don’t even know the tune.

Tears that fall more frequently tell me

I am not immune.

I find myself looking, waiting, anticipating

Every little word.

The Sun, Moon, and stars all remind me

Of all that was said, all that was heard.

I find myself wondering and asking what happened,

Would you fix it if you could?

My heart breaks again, night after night,

But deep down, I always knew it would.

But that’s life, just the way the cookie crumbles,

I guess some would say.

You’ve asked me to trust you time and again,

So I have done,

I just hope it’s not to my dismay.
