Tune: St Peter

('How sweet the name of Jesus sounds')

2 Corinthians 9 v.6-7

**********

Paul says, They who sow sparingly

Still reap sparingly, see

And they which sow bountifully

Shall reap bountifully

Each one according as the ydo

Purpose, let them act too

As purposed in their hearts, so let

Them give even, fair yet

But not to so give grudgingly

Nor of necessity

Not feel compelled, or must, or ought

But give from heart's true thought

For God loves a giver cheerful

Whose motives are joyful

Who do His true example show

Of His love and grace know

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.6.8.6. metre. a couple of poems left in this series. some at a friend's church may be 'grudging' (verse 3). Can ya help? They need a cool million. Pop cheques in the post to me, and I will pass them on! It's the 'they' (some leaders) who decide that a church building will be extended or even rebuilt.
