forest

dusk arising

Picking up the single leaf
i'd watched fall to my feet
I looked from its perfect form
to the enormous tree before me.
Just this one leaf had fallen
and I wondered in that moment of awe
was this leaf a single token, a plea.
So noble and majestic a form before me,
reliant on the natural resources around her.
Resources which my kind
were corrupting and abusing.
Was this indeed a plea or my inner sense
of guilt that i had done nothing other than
offer a passive support to the protection
of our environment and all creation who rely
upon the natural resources unspoilt by humankind.
Would this single leaf shed be my watershed moment?

A question which every lover of nature is asking in these troubled times my friend - your words will stay as fresh as that one single leaf in this reader's mind as needed reminders and thank you for posting your wording on forest pleas for action from negligent and greedy humanity.

Can ya glue it back on the tree?! If ya wants to.

what a body blow of a last line Dusk!
utilised with practised skill, to emphasis the message in your words:
such a leaf of potential enlightenment
to the harm our actions can have
is waiting for us all - to realise
    in the abundance of Nature
    we far too easily, disregard..
an important write! worded so accessibly relatable
