Letting Go

daydreaming

I feel your presence, I always have
You went nowhere, I’m sure of that
You chose to stay, watch over me
You won’t cross over and I know why
You probably thought I'd lose my mind
I did feel lonely for quite some time
It's really hard, you were so right
But now I’m stronger, can you see that?

You need to go, I have to stay
I got more time ahead of me
I know we’ll be together someday
No need to worry, I’ll be OK
I will be happy and love again
And even though I’ll miss you so
I now can smile, and so can you
The time has come, we must move on.

Extend your wings and fly away
Look at the sky, angels await
Cut through the clouds, open the gate
Follow the light and take your place
Don’t waste more time, it’s not the end
It’s your beginning, a brand new phase
Meet our creator, He patiently awaits
With open arms to show the way
Remember me, I won't forget
And this is how this story ends...

This is a poem I could have written for my wife who has now passed.

We understand these feelings well. It took five years for me to say and mean these words. I feel OK now. Hope you do too.
