Parleying With Philip

orchidee

Tune: Albano

('Once, only once, and once for all')

John 14 v.8-14

For St Philip & St James Day: 1 May

*************

Philip said to Jesus, Lord, show

Us the Father, then know

Him we shall, it shall satisfy

Us sure, with no deny

Jesus said to him, Have I been

So long with you, not seen

You, nor known, they who have seen me

Have seen the Father free?

Believe you not that I am in

The Father, and He in

Me? The words that I speak to you

Come from the Father true

I speak not of myself, but He

Father, does show me, see

What to do and say, He does dwell

In me, so I do tell

He dwells in me, and works does do

Believe me, this is true

That I in Father, He in me

Or believe the works, see

Truly, truly, I say to you

They that believe shall do

That believe on me, works the same

Shall do, e'en greater fame

Because I to the Father go

Whate'er you ask, it so

Shall be, what you in my name ask

I will do, e'en each task

That the Father be glorified

In me He does reside

I the Son, thus ask in my name

And I will do the same

Orchi, my head is spinning after reading this. Now I can't walk straight. I feel like I'm you when you've been tipping the bottle of wine. Please don't sing to me.

Thanks AP. lol. Why is head spinning?! Poem too long? Rather 'involved' wording?

      • Accidental Poet

eh, I think it was the "flip flop" wording. ; )

Thanks Jerry. It messes up the line if I use 'even' in this case.
