Lies

Neville

Lies

She always said

She would never

Tire of his poetry

Nor for that matter

Ever hurt him ..

But she lied on both

Those counts

Yes, so she did ..

The fool, he never

Seemed to learn

Yet I hear

That he still writes

For her

Every now and then …

again, ever-so subtly: brilliant! my friend..
          I hate comparing your works
with those of famous Poet's, like Bukowski
but your effort today hit so close to surpassing
one of my favourites from his rather - divisive, cannon
I feel the need to quote his version on this same theme
(forgive my self-indulgent rudeness, in my own twisted way
I mean well, or at least that's what I've convinced myself... lol)
from 'To the w**** who took my poetry':
'next time take my left arm or a fifty
          but not my poems:
          I'm not Shakespeare
          but sometime simply
          there won't be any more, abstract or otherwise;
there'll always be money and w***** and drunkards
          down to the last bomb,
          but as God said,
          crossing his legs,
I see where I have made plenty of poets
          but not so very much
          poetry.'
